Part 1: The Relationship of Academic and Professional Integrity

https://allnursingessays.com/assignment-promote-academic-integrity-and-professional-ethics/

Academic integrity and writing are intertwined in order to produce original copies of specific information. Academic writing entailed expanding on an existing idea by utilizing scholarly materials such as books, journals, reports, and specific websites (Cleary & Sayers, 2017). Academic integrity encourages truthfulness and moral behavior in writing. They work together to ensure original and trustworthy information. All research papers, essays, and other forms of documentation must adhere to specific genre-specific formats. Academic integrity is demonstrated when academically dishonest behavior such as plagiarism, falsification, and fabrication is avoided (Cleary & Sayers, 2017).
Students and professional writers must cite the sources from which they obtained their information and adhere to accepted scholarly practices.

Individuals who demonstrate ethical success are considered professionals. Academic professional practices are intended to promote scholarly ethics. Scholarly ethics guide professional educators and academicians. Professionalism, according to Maxwell and Schwimmer (2016), is the ability to demonstrate ethical values, choices, and practices while adhering to standards of practice. In academics, for example, academic writing, there are established rules and guidelines known as scholarly ethics.
They are intended to guide professional practices in order to ensure high-quality work. As a result, without scholarly ethics, academic professional practices would be deceptive.

Using Grammarly, SafeAssign, and effective paraphrasing skills to improve a document is scholarly ethical. As a result, a scholar will run the document through Grammarly and SafeAssign before making it public or submitting it (Grami, 2020). This is an essential professional practice in the field of academic writing. In one way or another, these two tools contribute to academic integrity.
Grammarly, for example, detects grammar and punctuation errors and provides real-time correction suggestions. It also serves as a spell checker to ensure that your writing is error-free.
SafeAssign, on the other hand, is an online tool that allows instructors to check the originality of a submitted assignment in order to prevent plagiarism. It also fixes grammatical errors and other writing problems (Grami, 2020). By removing the exact words used by the author of the source article, paraphrasing aids in the removal of plagiarism. It ensures that the article is the author’s one-of-a-kind and original work.

PART 2: Strategies for Maintaining Work Integrity

To maintain a high level of academic integrity, I intend to act honestly, ethically, responsibly, and truthfully. I intend to improve my academic writing skills; for example, I will learn to cite and reference using the standards accepted in my discipline (Bretag, 2016). In addition, in order to maintain academic integrity, I will make use of the university’s resources. In addition, for areas that are unclear, I will consult websites as well as my instructors. Consultations can assist in clarifying how to cite and reference academic resources in APA. In addition, I would use my paraphrasing skills to ensure that all of my academic writings are free of plagiarism.
Grammarly and SafeAsign are two excellent online tools. Another important strategy for maintaining high-quality academic integrity is to complete assignments independently unless instructed otherwise by the instructor (Bretag, 2016). Furthermore, assignments must be completed on time because good time management is required to produce quality work. These strategies will assist me in maintaining academic integrity while pursuing my MSN degree.

After completing the MSN program, it will be critical to maintain the integrity and ethics of professional nursing work. I will adhere strictly to moral and ethical principles and values such as honesty, dependability, trustworthiness, and honor (Hultman, Forinder, Fugl-Meyer, & Pergert, 2018). Honesty is essential for maintaining professional integrity. I will also be dedicated to the professional organization for which I will be working. Loyalty to the company contributes to the expected results.
Professional integrity enables people to maintain moral conduct in both professional and personal endeavors. Professional integrity is what inspires employees to trust their leaders and allows leaders to prioritize professional standards over their own self-interest. At work, I will treat everyone equally and with respect, regardless of their level of seniority (Hultman et al., 2018). This will also apply to patients in order to improve the quality of care. It is also necessary for me to keep my promises.

Keeping your words is the simplest way to build a reputation at work. For example, yes should mean yes and no should mean no, with no exceptions or explanations. I consider nursing to be a calling rather than a job, so I will devote all of my time and energy to assisting patients in improving their health (Hultman et al., 2018). Putting in the time and effort to achieve organizational goals demonstrates a strong work ethic and a desire to see the organization succeed. Another important strategy for maintaining professional integrity is to admit mistakes when they happen, because no one expects everyone to be perfect. Admitting and apologizing in the workplace promotes professional integrity (Hultman et al., 2018). Professional integrity has a significant impact on one’s performance, productivity, and reputation.

Quiz: APA Style and Format

As a nurse embarking on an advanced degree, you are developing the characteristics of a scholar-practitioner, which include strong communication skills. Writing in a scholarly manner involves supporting your thoughts with evidence from the literature and appropriately using APA formatting.

One of the challenges of scholarly writing is paraphrasing the thoughts of others in your work. Paraphrasing, and correctly citing the original author for his or her ideas, allows you to take the ideas of others, summarize them, and incorporate them into your own writing. When summarizing the ideas of others, it is important to avoid plagiarizing (i.e., copying the words and ideas of others as though they were your own). In addition to expanding your knowledge of APA Style, this modules’ Learning Resources help you distinguish between paraphrasing and plagiarizing.

This Quiz will help you determine how your understanding of these concepts and preparedness to reflect them in your work. The questions presented on the Quiz are derived from the Resources related to APA writing standards, plagiarism, and academic integrity.
